One of my older poems.
I have walked through the darkness of pain and despair.
I have wondered why my God was not there.
I have screamed out in anger and fear,
never knowing that God was near.
Then I looked back across the abyss of my hell,
saw the place I originally fell.
Saw the hands reach down from above,
and wrap me in the arms of love.
He carried me through the dark of night,
never stumbling, just holding on tight.
God was there during my worst hour,
urging me onward with all his power.
He carried me to the edge of hope,
sat me down on its gentle slope.
"You must go on" He said, "and it's still a climb,
but I'll stay here with you,
I've plenty of time.
