thinking about slavery and thought to write a poem about all blacks went through.
Colored People
By: Victoria Buskey

Colored people were raped and abused
Thinking if they leave their masters, they had nothing to loose.
Kidnapped, taken from their land
Forced to work in America for the white man.
They came and stole our riches and jewels
Then they had the nerve to make us clean our own tools.
They took us to their land, making us work long hours
Their skin is lighter so they thought they had more power.
They made our own people rebel on their own kind
Hundreds of years washing our minds.
Telling us you're worthless, a piece of crap without me
Saying if you ask you will never be free.
We were raped, beat, and killed
I can't believe we were forced by will.
Finally they let us go free
Acting like we were a part of humanity.
After hundreds of years of manual labor
How dare they lie and say they are our savior.
We have come so far from those days
Don't let your skin try to stand in your way.
