Expat's understanding of friendship.
Leaves

Like the leaves coming and going
So are my friends in Israel.
They bud so jubilantly
With such enthusiasm.
Springing forth conversation
Laughter and concern.
Then shading me with their comfort and love.
Growing comfortable and relaxed
In their summer season
Welcoming and beautiful.
Yet still they must leave.
It is autumn now.
They go slowly.
I realize the pattern and accept it.
With the winter of one friendship
Comes the spring of another.
