poem about a lighthouse
Untitled
I cannot move so
I stand and watch as
the waves flush the crabs scuttling across the shore
and gulls make lazy spirals above
The wind whispers to me across the ocean
like a lover laying beside me on pillows of white clouds
I stand and watch the sun begin its plunge to the
horizon as he swirls around me
Whispering of dark times ahead
I stand and watch as streaks of strawberry,
orange and grape darken the sky
as the light loses its battle with the night
Breathing heavy, the wind tries to seduce me
but I will not succumb to his rant
the clouds collide over my head and
the waves roar and tumble at me
telling me to grant his wishes but
I stand stoic against the onslaught as
my light slices through the doom of night
searching for the lost and forsaken
beckoning them safely back home.
