Here's one about saying goodbye to a very dear friend. Gosh, I don't do happy poems, huh?
I never felt so old inside,
So exposed by what I tried to hide,
And if my eyes were mostly dry,
I never wore so bold a lie
As when I smiled at goodbye…

I’ve put away my tired sighs,
Folded up my good silk ties,
I’m heading for those true blue skies,
Up higher than the birds can fly
To find some other place to try…

So here’s to warm goodbyes,
And smiling lies,
And brighter skies,
And second tries,
and it’s all right to cry,
I’ll hold you ’til you dry your eyes…
