A poem about loss.
September
The setting of the warm sun
and the rise to a cool, crisp morning
turning over the newly colored leaves
green, orange, red, brown
death looming around the bend

September
The setting of blissful innocence
and the rise to a cold understanding
the frailty of life brought into focus
death waving as he passes
shattering all you used to know

September
the bitter taste of tears
I still wipe away
with frustration that comes
with never understanding why

why?
