Longing, sweet, sweet longing.
Never to have, never to hold
Never to whisper in her ear
Never to take her hand
And lure her near
Never to wake with kisses
Never to spoon and sleep
Never to bear burdens
Or share wishes

Never will our eyes meet
The way I'd like them to meet
Never will our bear feet touch
Never will our fingers clasp
As we lie in the grass
And find shapes in the clouds
Never will we share the sunset,
Never the shooting stars

Never will her lips burn
With the anticipation of my return
Never will she long for my touch
Never will my world
Spin beneath her
Never will she notice me,
I'm just a face lost in the crowd.
