A pleiades about winter
Resplendent

Rusted thin like burnt paper and
Rotting in frozen slumber—
Resplendent only to earthworms and damp soil—
Rests coppered edged leaves, curled in
Repose, leaving nothing for thin branches but
Rough bark, cold to the touch and shivering in
Remembered warmth, stolen so blithely by winter’s deft hand.
