A flash fiction showing the pain and power of love and lies.
Nakul and Hina had been living together for two years, not dating. In financial crunch they had joined forces to tackle the newly roaring inflation, without any plans of dating. Hina wanted to quickly reach the top of the managerial ladder and Nakul was unsure whether to join parents business or find an identity of his own. After dabbling in many things he finally realised that sometimes taking the easiest path is often the best and now was trying to understand his dad's spices business.

They were now separating because Hina was getting a new promotion and a new apartment. Parting with the hope to remain friends, except for one problem. Hina loved Nakul, almost since the beginning and she knew he also had feelings for her. How much she had once wanted to tell him but could not. How much she wanted him to not be what she had seen, to tell her the truth and be done with it. She would just forgive him but be in his arms forever. Wishes though are often destroyed in the most brutal ways by the closest person. Vividly, she could remember the only time they had slept; the day she had cried from happiness and then pain. The day her heart and mind tore into a forever battle. With a smile that she thought would now last forever, she was about to tell him how much she loved him. His words would haunt her forever now:

"Hey Hina, I know it was wrong but you are so hot, I had no choice but to use the rape drug on you. A small peg of vodka did the trick nicely and we will be still friends tomorrow. Good night."

How she wished she had drunk that small, naive and simple peg.
