Are we putting masks on or taking them off?
Words whispered throughout the darkness are brought into the light,

Touch here, grind there. One…two…three kisses stolen from one another.

When ‘they’ come out to play, the rules are long forgotten and always broken,

‘Our actions won’t be held against us later, so the term “honesty?” Why even bother?’

We let them out when our true selves want to hide, run off into the background,

Forget reality and play pretend on the stage of life and dance to our own beat.

Pulling on masks, or taking them off, they run wild and cause destruction,

Leaving behind them nothing but regrets and pain, so powerful the feat.

In the broken pieces of trust and tears, ‘they’ like to dance in the rain that falls,

Dousing ourselves in gas, we gladly flick a match and ignite the flame.

Reality and Fantasy become one in our eyes, along with lies and deceit,

Because in the end when the day’s light shines upon us and the truth comes out, who’s really to blame?
