Where has our spirit gone? (Form: Tri-Fall)
The Decline

A nation in decline
is charted
not by the ambit of a curve
but by a single line,
once started,
that continues and does not swerve.

Where has our spirit gone?
When did we
lose our sense of community
settling to be a pawn
that’s not free
while leaders tout disunity?

Too many have given
full measure
for us to accept the “new norm”
of a nation riven.
We treasure
our right to no longer conform.
