Song written for two friends who love to travel. We met at a concert.
Tell me—
what worth is a tune, humming a bar or two
if you never stop and listen to the ocean
and what is life, nothing but doing time
if not set to acoustic motion
the waves they sweep, curling emotions deep
but the mathematician with no feeling
stays on his feet
and never knows what he is missing

because perspective is what gets neglected
when we stay in this small town
and our voyage is only perfected
when we roll the windows down
and crank up Foreman loud
yeah, he was right
when he said this is the sound
you’re just getting older,
don’t roll over now
this is the melody
of the adventure bound

Tell me—
what’s the use, making up an excuse
to never wet your feet
and what’s the point, staying safe
if you never hit that cliff where head and heart meet
the air is rushing, but the wallflower’s blushing
take her hand or she’ll never move
complacency is just so comfortable
and she’ll never know what she is missing

because perspective is what gets neglected
when we stay in this small town
and our voyage is only perfected
when we roll the windows down
and crank up Foreman loud
yeah, he was right
when he said this is the sound
you’re just getting older,
don’t roll over now
this is the melody
of the adventure bound

Just one weekend
that’s all it takes
to break
from the daily grind
just one weekend
of meeting and melting
I hope you’re looking for what you find.
