Its shocking how callous we can be to our own, when one reaches for help and we pull away.
Someone screams silently in the distance
A desolate melody
The pain embodied
Someone's heart breaking

Alone someone lies in agony
While many more languish
Their comfort selfish
Deaf to the hurt

All around the city sleeps
Street lights lit
Safe in bed, blankets warm
Breakfast with the morning sun

Whilst in the distance
When the burdens are too much to bare
When the tears are there
Someone's hear is tearing

The distant screaming insistent
Pleading for a rope
Someway to cope
Survive to suffer another day

The screaming stops
Relief abound
Restful slumber all around
The pause is short

As their own uncaring hearts begin shredding
There will be much screaming
Screaming, screaming, screaming
But not so distant
