On Christmas eve
the children dream
of Santa's flying sleigh
with promised gifts, as they sleep unaware.
And they believe
when daylight's beam
brings in this special day
at last, the missing milk and cookies swear
that jolly old St Nicholas was there.

Frankincense
and gold and myrrh
are gifts you give a King;
Traditions of the very first Christmas.
And so intense
the smell of fir
that burning Yule logs bring.
Songs and laughter mark the season's bliss
with holly hung and mistletoe's sweet kiss.

Remember me
when e'er you go
to days you were a boy.
This tinsel covered monument of mirth,
a Christmas tree,
'neath boughs aglow
gifts given filled with joy,
memorials of such a noble birth
in carols sung announcing peace of earth.
