Just a poem I wrote
Urban dreams crystallize
upon the concrete ground--
no grass to wedge
between wet toes,
no soil to swirl around--
just the broken cracks of time
and the secrets that they keep,
the hope of another’s soul
forever buried in cold limestone.

From the discarded guise of faith
and the dried up tears of yesterday
come the seeds tomorrow seeks
to line a single ray
of sunshine on the sidewalk
as I tread through my past,
heading toward my future
under a heavy charcoal sky.

A song I hear of long ago,
when birds flew free and wild,
Music from an era lost--
when horses pulled the carriage
down a winding path
guided by the scented hand
of summer’s gentle kiss.

Each note takes me closer
to a private sanctuary--
a place that lives inside
among forgotten memories…
And, I can see the horizon --
the bold promises it holds
because I am no longer trapped
inside the city’s concrete clothes.
