Bartenders Are Good People

Friday night, time for a drink.
At this point I begin to rethink
About the love I'd lost...

So I went downtown to my favorite bar,
The bartender saw I was acting bizarre,
I sat down and ordered a strong shot,
I dunno what he must've thought,
But he knew something was wrong.

He leaned on the counter,
Asked why I was acting like a downer,
Told the man why she left me,
She said she wanted to be free.
He had a shining star in his eye,
He told me not to be so shy,
There are plenty more fishes in the sea,
And yeah you'll stumble across some algae.

He gave me another drink, on the house.
He told me not to be souse,
Now you see why I'm so grateful,
'Cause bartenders are good people.

He smiled and looked around the empty place,
You could see the look on his face
That said he was concerned.
I left that night and soon returned
'Cause I had lost my job.
I could feel my heart throb
He asked and I told him what happened.
Again, his eye was like a diamond
And got me a drink...
Told me I had to think.

He gave me another drink, on the house.
He told me not to be souse,
Now you see why I'm so grateful,

Later that week I came back,
Told him my life was gettin' back on track.
Got a job, found a girl,
Everything was starting to unfurl.
He smiled that mysterious smile
Said he knew it'd come around after a while.

He gave me another drink, on the house.
