The difficulties of being yourself in today's world
Despite struggles within

You know who you are

What it means to be you

What it takes to make you happy

Understanding comes from only a few

Ridicule and mistrust echo in your mind

What would they say if they knew?

How would you continue?

Regardless of the fact

You are hiding who you are

Hurting yourself by

Hiding the real you

Family don't understand

Question your choices

Deny you the right to be who you are

Guilting you into being who they want you to be

Never once considering what it might be like

To just accept you

Love you for who you are

And who you love

It gets easier I promise

One day, it'll no longer matter

You'll be free to be you

Hold hands in public

Stare down the starers

Hold your head up high

But until then

We are here

You are safe

You can be you

With us.
