The pain of living through a nightmare
She sits and stares, not looking at anything
She wonders where life will take her this day
Happy? Sad? Lost? Betrayed?

She can't explain the feelings
And how quickly they change
"I'm ok now" she whispers to herself
Well, that's what they all say….

Work flies by, each day a blur
Those who admire, their smiles distort
Don't people always lie?
She just wants to die….

Three pills in the morning
Six pills at night
Sometimes more in between
She's so tired of the fight….

Don't mix with alcohol the pills all read
She pops the cork and doesn't care
Relief is the objective
Not the damned labels that beware…

Take another pill, down another drink
Maybe it will happen by accident
It won't really be her fault
"Will it be lonely" she thinks "in that dark vault?"

I'm watching her now as she has another drink
She's looking back at me, eyes filled with fear
She takes all her pills, save but the last two
Those are for later …better to sleep by my dear
