A poem about the struggles and subsequent faith of a Soldier.
The fire burns and embers fall
A crater now, once a wall
A blast rings across the land
That shakes the will of any man
Smoke -- so black, so thick
Don't inhale, it'll make you sick
The threat of danger, oh so high
Innocent people wondering why
Blood was shed and lives were lost
Was the reward worth the cost?
War -- a rolling death machine
On his shoulders entire nations lean
Many others have come and gone a-gain
But a Soldier will e'er remain
Through it all, the Soldier will stand
With Jesus Christ holding his hand.
