I remember that day, when the Ioans came.
I remember that day, when the Ioans came
That day we made a mistake, only ourselves to blame
We have tried to make peace with all our interplanetary friends
But alas dear people, soon, the world ends
It was a cold morning, the sirens blared, people ran
But me, well I just stared
The sky was gray, but the sun was red
The White House was gone, our leader was dead
'We are now your gods' the Ioans said
This was the time, that we all came to dread.

Now we are in chains, slaves to them and our mistake
The dead bodies litter the earth, I pick them up with my rake
I looked up the sky, and prayed with my heart,
'God, if you could just give us another chance, let us go back to the start'.

We learned to fast, we screwed up
We thought we knew their language, the language of the visitors from up
It was one tiny mistake, a mistake we didn't mean to make
For you see, in their language, 'love' means hate
I wish I could speak, to the Ioan king
Then perhaps, I could just prevent this whole thing.
