A poem about Laughter.
The funny things
Are what keeps us sane
And in high spirits
During the days when nothing is
Working out
The way it was planned

Laughing
They say
Is the greatest medicine of all
And smiles
They say
Make you feel like you are floating on the ceiling
Even when you’re not

And what gets you to smile?
What gets you that laugh, the one so hard it gives you cramps, the one
That has a domino effect on everyone within a ten-mile radius?
Makes everyone who can hear laugh along with you?

The funny things, of course

Are what you share
With your friends
And what you have
In your memories
They stick out the most
In your mind
And they are there to comfort you
When nothing else is.

So have a laugh, children
And don’t grow up too quickly
Because suddenly, like it packed up its bags and moved to somewhere where it was invited,

You laughter will diminish into nothing but sorrow
and things you start
but never finish

Your life will be cloying and monotnous
And without laughter
there is nothing.

Laugh for a while
For no reason
Except that you can
Laugh, Vociferously, Proudly
Have no shame, no regrets
By yourself, with your cat
Anywhere, any time
Just laugh
Laugh laugh, laugh, laugh
Try It.
