A short story about how fate brings two souls together .
At first, strangers.
Two people, who took no notice of each other.
A wave, polite smiles of acknowledgement and half-hearted hi's and bye's.

The red thread of fate linked these two souls together.
A pair of hands set to work.
Carving and writing a beautiful story for the two kindred souls.

The two would get to know each other better.
Situations were to put them together more often.
Awkwardness would be a common for both of them.
Sitting down together, not knowing how to strike a conversation.

A common phrase, talk is cheap, a medium through which emotions could be inaccurately portrayed.

So all they did was just to sit with each other, with little said, unless necessary.
That somehow cemented their friendship.
Their time would be usually spent in libraries, parks and cafes, with books in hand.
They'd just sit and read, at times, breaking the silence with comments about the books.
At times, cameras would start clicking away, capturing moments and of each other.

They sat under the tree in a park.
His head staring at the sky.
A sunny day with a gentle spring breeze still in the air.
Scents of flowers and hot coffee laced with caramel syrup.
He was daydreaming, possibly about the future or about the sci-fi books he had just read, ideas churning in his head.
She took a deep breath and held it.
Adjusting the focus.
The distinct click of a Nikon shutter.
Realizing that she took his pic, he blushed, scratching his head, feeling embarrassed at his phasing out.

The electronic buzz and wubs of dubstep resonated through the room.
Gentle thuds on the floor as she moved.
Isolations and locks.
Her eyes determined and focus, diving herself into the world of music, interpreting them in her movements.
He sat there, marvelling at her grace and energy.
His brain synchronizing into the music, reading her movements, deciphering a story.
Through his lens, he tracked her movement, waiting for the moment.
More whines and clicks as the camera focus and captures images.
Music stopped, she stared at him, giving a satisfied smile.

Fate began to shift again.
Moving them closer.
Feelings developed.
They sat closer to each other.
Noticing a little bit more.
Her dimples when she smiled.
His habit of biting his thumb when he was nervous.
Her love for music.
His love for the abstract.

One chilly autumn.
They sat at their favourite spot, under the tree.
A melancholic orange tint coated the view of the park.
Wisps of coffee vapour slowly rose in the air.
Both their cameras sat on the maple red leaves scattered around the park.
Uncharacteristically, they spoke.
Emotions flowed, laughter and dreams of the future.
Then, time just seemingly stopped.
Their gaze locked.
She blushed, eyes wide.
He slowly tore his gaze away and his teeth were about to sink into his thumb, nervousness and near panic plaguing his thoughts.
Her hand lashed out and grabbed onto his hand.
'No.'
Their hearts beat faster.
She pulled his scarf, drawing him closer.
He could smell, her scent mixed with her favourite caffe mocha and the mild fruity smell of her perfume.
Their lips touched.
'I love you, Clay'
'Love you too, Elle'
No more words were said.
Lips locked.
A moment immortalized, not by the clicks from DSLRs but by the beauty and magic of the moment itself.

Fate was not done yet.
Some claims fate is cruel.
Fate had another hand to play.
It showed its darker nature.
What was beautifully made by its hand, was coldly smashed apart.

Distance.
A bane of any relationship.
Before her flight, she held on to him, crying.
He held on, stoically.
She shivered as she cried, not wanting to part with him.
Again, no words were said.
Emotions written on their faces.
Her eyes, red and puffy as she reluctantly waved goodbye.
His eyes spoke of endless pain and sorrow, betraying his stoic countenance as he waved his own goodbye.

Was it pain? Or an escape?
They never contacted each other.
Time passed and they moved along.
A dull ache in their hearts that never healed.
A year passed or two.
They got into their careers.
Again, fate was not done yet.
One final twist to their story.

On the busy streets of Sydney, Australia.
An opportunity was given to him to work there.
He took it.
The breeze along Darling Harbour blew at him. He grimaced as the icy wind caressed his cheeks.
A quaint chocolate parlour, a book in hand.
He was going to enjoy his entire afternoon.
He sat down, hot chocolate on his table, he opened his book, ready to enter a world of magic and mystery.
He then heard...
'One cup of caffe mocha please, a little easy on the sugar, thanks'
His heart stopped.
Memories, painful and sweet, buried deep flooded his mind in a mad torrent.
He snapped his head around.
She was walking to find her own seat.
As fate would have it.
Their eyes met.

No words.
Tears began to gather at the edge of her eyes.
He stood up.
The moment surreal, as if torn from the pages of a novel.
A hug, emotions flowed through them.
Fate showed its final card.
A blissful ending.
The hands of fate played a beautiful trick~

Writer's Note: This story is edited by a friend of mine, who frequently hounds me for my english errors. Thanks Elle (not the girl written or portrayed in the story). The story is also inspired by a song called Beautiful Trick, hence the ending and Lindsey Stirling's Crystalize. Happy reading :)
