This was written for River Phoenix
Little boy lost alone in the world
Gazing at Hollywood’s lights with wonder.
His eyes shine with each passing glance
While his heart beats loud like thunder
He waltzes through life, one screen at a time
Developing into more of a star
His innocence becomes lost with the pressure
And soon he will have gone too far.

Little boy lost, alone at night,
His dark thoughts turning into convictions.
A question, a choice, a chance to say no
But the “one times" turn into addictions.
Life becomes a chore, harder with each step
As he starts to dread each new day.
He delights in life as a child of the night,
The times where his demons come out to play.

Little boy lost looks in the mirror
Alone in front of a bathroom sink
His weaknesses stare at him for what seems like forever,
And he lets them in without stopping to think.
He comes out of solitude and into the party,
Eyes unfocused, hands shaking, a tragic sight.
He stumbles out by the care of his friends
Who can tell something is not right.

Little Boy lost lays on the ground
On the corner of a busy street.
His body thrashes around, his eyes closed,
Signs of the possession almost complete.
The heart stops, the pulse slows, the blood freezes,
Our star has fallen, our hero is dead.
Never again will his face be seen
For the glory of his life has fled.

Little boy lost, floating among the stars
Like an angel with his glorious wings.
He knows no despair, he knows no pain,
None of life’s unpleasant things.
Back on earth, his devoted followers cry.
He has left them all in pain.
For without the presence of their idol,
The world will never be the same.
