just another assignment for class...
They think she’s flawed
But when she sings
They’re in awe
Roses just fling
On stage
And she cries
She looks for her mother
But she died
Beaten by her lover
It was a crime

The girl goes home
Goes through the same pain
Just a Different day, but the same game
His hand so rough, gives her a migraine
He tells her, she’s just a plain Jane
She sits there, and cries
She goes to school, and she lies
About the bruises, that they see
She says, they're nothing

She knows, she can’t stay
And get treated, the same way
As her mother, and die
She has a gift, she’s gotta fly
Far away
To another land
Maybe, find another man
But for now, she’s content.
All he did, was torment
Her soul
It’s alright now
Because she’s reached
Her goal now

Years later
She looks back
On the hardships
That she had
She remembers when she left

She’s worth nothing more, than a cent
And she smiled
That’s fine, she knows she’s a dime.
