A poem about the passing of my uncle.
“May God have mercy on my soul”
Is the last cryptic message he wrote

There are no answers to be understood
No saving can be done
Everyone is left asking hopeless questions

Heavy tears fall to the ground
Numerous as petals carried on the wind

His children, brothers, sister, father
A family comes together as they are torn apart
The community attends his day in remembrance

Sleepless nights; shadowy days
A fresh pain has just begun for us

As his endless suffering and secrets
Are now known to the world
We can only believe that he has finally found rest

That his spirit lives on somewhere
His affliction has finally come to an end

We will never gain a full understanding
He would not permit anyone to comprehend
The depth of his overwhelming agony

His journey was to trudge alone
And now we are left abandoned

Lamenting hearts are filled with sorrow
But we will forever remember his selfless spirit,
His humor and his broad smile

Until we meet again, dear Uncle
You will live on in our memories and our hearts
