a very free verse.
Light triangles washed down the sink as I brushed my teeth this morning.
Two sudden rains frightened my sleep away in May,
and brought with them unexpected cold, which made my warm pajamas
crawl out of my closet with a will of their own,
and as I snuggled under a light summer blanket, all the street lights went out
and I thought to myself
maybe they do magic on my street too? Then fell asleep without a dream.
Through my fluorescent island lies a house in darkness
cracked with darting TV lights
and gray fug filtering from the outside winter.
As if i'm trapped inside a box within a box
thrown outside, abandoned in a weather gone crazy, I want to go out and explore it,
to be cold, different. To blow away the cobwebs in my eyes.
And then have the weight of the day falling on me.
Luckily, grey days are always less heavy, more like
dreams screened into reality.
