Balance
What's that
I have none
I fall down
I get back up
Repeat step one
Then step two
Again and again
All day
All night
All life
Hit one times to many
Around the radius of my head
A dozen minus twelve
Or so it has been said
Nothing between these ears
Only a very basic life sustaining function
Electricals signals that do not
Know what exactly they are doing
Chugging alone
Faking strong
Masked as stubbornness
The truth is an unwillingness to quit
Copious amounts of drugs
Needles in ever orifice
Poking, prodding, borderline ramrodding
Evoking more questions than answers
Doctors made fools
Tell me that I am slowly dying
But oddly I feel like I am living
Far more than I should
Ever more than most
The fear of the end expressed
Has driven me to do what I can
To do what I am sure I must
These words
These impractical poems
With intricate names
Are all that I have
And are all that will remain
I am trying to tell everyone
Many amazing things
Hidden within the fluff
And obnoxious runs
Or my poetic equilibrium
A balance struck
When I am not writing
I often feel as if
I am gonna chuck
But I hold it in
Fighting the urge to vent
In such a disgusting way
Because even I
A poet forcefully made
Has his limits of what needs
To be brutally expressed
A balance must be maintained
At the current rate
That is required to be paid
Words are my currency
And they lend reality
To what is really going on
In my life
And certainly everyone else's
What I write
Holding nothing back
Like a knife they cut
To the bone if need be
Whatever it takes
I have no shame
Nor should I ever
Balance is required
Writing helps me find it
If I didn't have that
Then I am sure
That I would be
Far less stable…
