this love from his point of view.
The summer wind blows,
tossing her curls around
the air. The floral scent on
her skin slowly floats my
way and I inhale deeply.

She sits against a tree,
on the green grass,
knees to her chest,
as she sketches away
the afternoon.

I sit on the steps of
the front porch and
watch her as I twiddle
my thumbs and wonder
how I got so lucky.

An insecure boy from the
other side of the world, now
here with the girl of my
dreams, enjoying my
first southern summer.

I look up and see her
running towards me. I
smile and hold out my
arms so she can fall into
them.

Sitting on my lap, she leans
in close, whispering. "Let's
go on a picnic." With a smile
as pure as hers, how could
I ever say no?

We sit on a sea of baby blue
in the back garden, tossing
grapes at each other's mouths
and sipping on homemade
strawberry lemonade.

An insecure boy from the
other side of the world, with
nothing to lose. How did
I get so lucky, to spend my
first southern summer with
her?
