The funeral ode of a fictional hero from my novel.
Lo do we speak to our ancestors old
Lo do we speak to our mothers, fathers
Our brothers, sisters, our heroes so bold
Here today we pray to our king above
Our lord is now gone and woe is with all
We give our blessings to the man we did so love
At the Golden Gates the People gave Song
The men in the ranks, the Warrior Knights
They knew Aedar well and mourn the passing nights
A mighty man he was so sadly now gone
The Star Road his home, now his new Kingdom
There the great do dwell, their High Heaven home
O Great Gold Giver, O Mighty Shield Bane
A warrior born, a learned man grown
May his spirit sail the Night’s Shining Sea
Many a Tale-Teller your feats did vanquish
A better ruler there never will be
O foe of Storm Steel, O Fire Quencher
With woe we now wave, for soon shall be dawn
Time passes you on, goodbye and be gone
