Just a short poem
When the first light breaks
The night to day
When the morning wakes
And the streetlights fade
Every moment, every breath
Just one of many
    so many left
The coming dawn, the endless light
No bit withdrawn, no end in sight.

Till every passing hour fades
Till every lingering memory stays
When noise subsides
When silence spreads
When the light begins to bleed in red.

Fading, fading, fading
The dimmest light remains.
Fading, fading, fading
The dark consumes the day.

Here I lie, nothing left to dream
I had my time
Or so it seemed.
Let it go, let it die, the want, the need
Let it pass over, bursting,
    like a bad dream.

Give up now
Hold your peace
There’s no one left
To watch it cease
