this piece is about my subtle detachment from my heritage and my desire to re affirm it
Retracing my steps, back to the begining,
where the gene of my genesis generated a killing
the founder of my thoughts, the sculpter of my norm
the teacher that taught my tongue to stay so warm
a prodigal child returns, riding in on his chariot
hat in his hand, on his heart, he's trying to bury it.
conceleing bleeding lungs, regreting leaving young
home where the heart belongs, forever you have been the one

my chest is warm, its this fire that made a man of me
brought a boy to the very brim of reality
ive seen a thing or two, tasted the spice of life
left at the cost of attachment, i thought the price was right
never forgot you ma, how could i ever do
the red, green black and gold is well embedded through
strongly threaded through, i hold a head of you
so the Z(Zambia) never sleeps, keeping my heritage true

i hardly sounds like your son now, accent run down
i missed you times two when i was brum (birmingham) bound
but mama A (africa) mama i say, if come to far
its true great that i can say im a son of a star
so im reading up your history, singing your songs
we hold a very small tie, but im keeping it strong
regurjitating dialeects my mother would speak
mumbling meak quotes in the humble belief
that any pratice make perfect, act and rehearse it
through pursed lips first, but in time i will converse quick
speaking ichi bemba quati bana C
me bargaining for bread is what i want to see
kalembula and beef, nsima all day
running through feilds of green and its all maze
its so crazy what my heritage holds
its so crazy what you actually see without you head in a whole

saili wise up, why suck on the lemons of life
seconds pass, your pain is no permanent plight
so pick up whatever, seek out your forever
and feed your new freedom with a new piece of better
make a new memory and savour the now
rejoice verbally, your joy is much safer in sound
sacred and crowned an african, im taking a vow
the african in me will never cater to doubt
the paper is bound to people but the heart is an equal
my residence with zambia will live within my sequal
the home sick person i am should savour love
with africa in me, ill succeed in favour of
theres reasons for departing, a reason for this
its natural to feel fire for the things tha i miss
family is forever so i remain under my umbrella
when the rainfall subsides theyll be there for better weather
