I am not one to write romance poetry but I guess this isn't traditional romance...
the best love is a truly bitter love
filled with sorrows that etch
into heartlines and linger with an ache
every remembrance that makes breath shutter and hitch
to feel so strongly about anything
is surely worth the hurt and tears its memory prompts
because I may feel more than anything
when I feel this bitter love

(and if it is not best, then why does it linger above all?)
