Subway soliloquy

It screeches as it charges forward
A strange beast with stranger riders.
Some speak,
Some laugh,

Most are silent.

Holding the world in their hands,
They hungrily languish light into their eyes
Stream song into their ears
Wish words into their brains
So that they might hide
They hide and they disappear.

It screeches as it comes haltingly to a stop.
A strange beast
Those riders are.
