Yes, we have evacuation signs in Maine.

"Well, that's odd." Debra Dumount looks over to the right from her car.
There is a blue sign with white letters, "EVACUATION ROUTE."
"I wonder where that leads?" Debra follows the signs out along the
coast of York beach. Her small MG makes hair pin turns.

Finally, she reaches the Evacuation Center at the Canadian boarder.
"Ah, is this the way to the Evacuation Center?" Debra asks timidly.
The toll booth attendant does not know. But, she continues into the
Canadian territories. "I think I'll need a map." Debra ponders.

The Sun is setting. She pulls into a convenient store and gas station.
"Oh? My English is not so good. But, I think you are looking for the
ah~how~do~you say? Ah! Yes, the underground city." The station
attendant smiles and points to a spot on the map.

Debra is determined to reach her goal. She speeds away in her MG
and at break neck speed finds herself in the middle of nowhere.
There are several well lit signs in french. Debra does not know french.
Suddenly, another blue sign in English appears, "Evacuation Center."
          "Yes!" Debra follows the arrow.

A head she can see a small guard booth with a gate.
There doesn't appear to be anyone around.
"Are you kidding me?!" Debra hits her horn.
"It's midnight! What are you doing her?" a very tiny lady asks.
The woman is standing beside Debra's driver's side door.

"I-ah, wanted to see the evacuation center... Did I wake you?"
Debra was feeling foolish. The tiny lady smiled up at her:
"Those signs are for the reaping. Your too early."
Debra felt threatened by this petite woman. There was something
          unfriendly about her demeanor.

Debra cleared her throat, "I would like your name."
"Gwen Dy Fron. I am the Gate Keeper." the tiny lady smiled
and bowed. "Gwen. I wish to know what the 'Reaping' is."
Debra braced herself for a quick escape. Gwen eyes sparkled in
          the hunter's Moon.

"It is the beginning of the end times for you.
Many will not survive, but a few will be selected for the future
United Nations." Gwen eyes were glowing. It was not a reflection
of Moonlight or from Debra's headlights.
"Okay. I best be going." Debra waved to the scary little lady
and made a reverse 180 with the stick in 3rd.

          Debra's return was amazingly quick.
She threw all the bolts on her front door and back door.
Then, she curled up on her couch with a hot coco and her
          Winchester rifle.
Could the world end so quickly? She couldn't imagine it.

            The phone rang.
"Miss Dumount do not be afraid.
You are one of the chosen.
That is why you were called to the center."
It was that creepy little lady again.
Debra recognized her thick french accent.
            The call ended abruptly ..

Debra held her Winchester close to her chest.
Her heart pounded as she sipped her coco.
"If I'm chosen, I'm going with my rifle." she said
            and put on a blanket.
