A free-verse poem I wrote that almost everyone can relate to.
Taking one step into love,
One at a time, heel-toe, repeat.
Slowly easing into trusting them,
“Nobody who isn’t true couldn’t handle
The secrets that lie beneath, right?”

Deep down knowing nobody’s there for good
But still believing in what could be.
Falling harder as time goes on
Until finally, letting go and fully trusting,
Then comes the pain…

Trying to keep things the same
While the arguing is growing worse.
The pain of being together gets intense.
Leading to finally pulling the plug,
Time to let go of the memories and good times.

No matter how hard you try to move on
The pain still remains and time goes on.
Becoming friends being the best situation,
Making that the goal, working hard to achieve
Until finally succeeding!

The pain still remaining and strengthening
Pushing through the same feelings as always,
Wanting more but dealing with what is served.
Taking one day at a time, not knowing what’s next,
Only time can tell what fate has planned.
