Trying to be better than I am.
Honor the man who protects
Not he who harms
He who is warm, and loves
Not he who is cold, and hates

You might be discouraged, hard to find him
I'm talking about a man
But where do I get my information?

I am a man
Not nearly as good as I described
But I had a few good teachers along the way
Who set an example, who led me to goodness

I've let evil run my life
But I've always fought it
I've done bad things
But I've begged forgiveness

So let me tell you
I may be drenched in sin
But I'll try to be the best I can
Can another man say this?

I can't call myself a saint
I'm just as bad as any other
Mom called me perfect, god knows I ain't
But I'll try for you, my love

I'll try
