The fall of a Nation- Pride goeth before the fall,.. (I wrote it first in 1989)
Arrogance,..

A nation,
who's birth
was a violent one,
grown from oppression,
was humble,
when young.
It stood up
for itself,
when faced
with great might.
All it wanted
was the Freedom
to be.

But,on through
the years,
as it grew to an age,
it turned arrogant,..
sure of it's strength.
It demanded that all
should agree to it's terms.
Never seeing
the resentment grow.

Then, one day it stood,
with it's fist in the air,
proclaiming the world
as it's own.
Resentment turned rage.
All converged on the one.
They destroyed it,
they laid it to waste.

It had thought
it was all.
Yes,the greatest,
it thought.
but,in truth,
it took too much
for granted.
In an ultimate
snobbery,
it forgot it's beginnings.
and lost all it had gained,
from it's birth.

All turned their backs,
on this Nation so great,
which was now held
in lowest regard.
While it pranced in it's pride,
it made such great mistakes,
that it now saw it's
falling from Grace.

That Nation,
you see,is us,..
you and me
The home of the brave
and the free.
Our states arent united,
we dont stand together,
our heads should be
hung down in shame.

In the end,
can we rise?
Gather strength
once again?
Feel the deep
love of Country,
as before,..
or,alas,will it be
that our fall is complete,
and our shame's all that's left of our pride?

Shall we cry out to God,
bless America,Lord,
let us raise our heads high,
stand in strength?
I truly hope so.
Let us try,for to not,
is to admit to a final
Defeat.
