A poem I wrote about war in history about a year ago,
I stare blindly towards the distant interior
Knowing I’ll be able to prove myself a warrior
I summon my sword confidently and fast
Unaware whether this battles my last
I roar and scream as I run down the battle field
My chain mail clashes as I fiercely wield my shield
I ready my aim and with all of my might
I slash my sword forward into a menacing fight
I scarred and butchered against our said enemy
Until I finally lost all of my energy
I weakened and fell flat on the ground
I straight away knew that defeat was found
I felt a strong pain that jabbed in my back
Terrified as he prepared his next attack
He stuck again and gave me a piercing glare
The look said “this fight was only fair”
I’m aware we stole his home, his money, his land
The only thing this man was doing was taking command
I took my last breath and stared blankly in front
Before I knew it the opposing team had finished the hunt
