A humorous look at motherhood
Ten minutes more to bedtime
I don't know how I've lasted
I haven't wept or cried
I haven't even fasted

Although it wasn't very reverent
Ok, I guess I did pray
Neither sweet Nor angelic
It was more like "take me away"

The baths have all been given
Three children in their night clothes
Three cherubs combed and brushed
They are clean smelling to my nose

But if these three are cherubs
Tell me why am I so tired
And if there were another
I would glady say you're hired.

And now as always nightly
Those three little cherubs change
Their halos propped by horns
My sympathies they guage

"Can I have another drink?"
"He won't let my dolly sleep"
"Put your butt in the bed"
"I dont want to hear a peep"

And as I set with feet up
A cool drink held in my hand
I hear the creaking floor boards
I see three little sets of hands.

And from the upstairs creaking
I see three heads peaking
I hear three voices ringing
Peep, peep, peep.
