A short poem I wrote some time ago.
Your word struck hard,

Like a sharp blow

From a policeman's truncheon.

A blinding strike

Deep across my brow.

The word left me reeling, and stunned.

How can one simple word

Hurt me so?

The word when you said,

" Goodbye."
