Just a flight of fancy following a zany conversation with my sister
Verbatim Report of a lecture given by Rosa Pronk of Raamsdonksveer University to the Ecological Innovation Society.
“Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Thank you for coming tonight. I hope that tonight you will hear things that are new to you and that my words will inspire you investigate the phenomena that you will hear about in this talk in a way that will lead us all to a greater understanding and to their harnessing in a way that is beneficial to all mankind.
I do not intend to bore you with complicated scientific data or spout Latin names; rather, this is an overview from which much discussion will follow.
So down to business
My interest in what was in the upper atmosphere began when I started looking at the problems concerned with the holes in the ozone layer. As I delved deeper I found that not only were there holes allowing Ultra violet light to reach the earth’s surface unhindered but there were also small areas where UV was being blocked almost entirely. The fascinating thing about these areas was that they moved; and relatively quickly at that. Speeds varied but were logged and calculated using GPS to reach speeds in excess of 30 kph. They could, and did move in all directions but predominantly travelled with the jetstreams, which as we know are usually at an altitude of 10-15000 metres thus giving us an indication of their usual altitude
Several seemingly unconnected pieces of data stored out from all the others,  for example, most activity occurred during daylight hours.  The largest areas around two K in length were mostly away from the others whereas  the lesser ones often had another much smaller one close by and these, particularly where the size differential was great would travel in the same direction . Sunlight clarity was measurably  greater immediately behind these areas they travelled through the atmosphere.  In certain light conditions,  particularly in the evening as dusk turned the dark a slight rippling could be detected along the longer sides of the areas suggesting a form of swimming or flight
These observations and other slightly more tenuous pieces of data suggested to me that these areas were some sort of biological phenomena.  At this Point I had to assess the facts we had determined
One.  Ultra violet light was being absorbed therefore energy was being absorbed.
Two.  The creature was capable of independent motion even against prevailing winds.
Three.  As the air was cleaner  behind the area, it had to be assumed that most of the particulate matter in the atmosphere around it was being assimilated.
One final piece of information came to hand purely by chance.I read a report concerning a large area of jungle in British Guiana where the trees, even the tallest trees were found to be festooned in some form of mucus or slime of biological origin. This was discovered shortly after a test  missile had been fired from the European Space Agency  launch site.  I obtained a video of the launch and despite the considerable distance from which the video was shot,  was able to see that at 15000 metres the superheated  exhaust gases from the rocket briefly formed a brightly coloured flare. Unfortunately this occurred during the rainy season and before further investigation could be carried out at the site torrential downpours had obliterated all evidence It has also been noticed that these  areas , despite their  sensitivity and sophistication, are undetectable by radar and other electronic surveillance systems.
These are the facts, we must now try to assess them and find some form of explanation for the phenomena.
It appears to me that these areas or anomalies are actually some form of creature, a dweller of the desolate areas of the upper atmosphere; where there is little oxygen and even less water.  They must consist almost entirely of gases.  And as they are able to resist gravity some of these must be hydrogen and helium probably helium or the rocket would have caused a far greater explosion.  Further examination by photo spectrometry of the flare will provide more clues as to the other gases.  A parallel to this can be found in the oceans of the world in the form of jellyfish , whose bodies are approximately 98% water; so if creatures of only 2% solids can inhabit a watery environment why not the same in the air?
Some form of multiplication must occur; it would perhaps explain the smaller areas travelling with a larger one.
So I present to you the concept of a huge creature inhabiting our skies, until now undetected .  I have given these creatures an identity as they deserve.  I have named them the Wind Whales
Obviously much more research must be done before any final conclusions can be reached, but we could perhaps find them useful to us all.  Could they tow clouds from our wet ocean regions to make thedeserts bloom?  Could they be tethered above holiday beaches to block out the harmful ultraviolet rays and thus helping to prevent skin cancer?  Perhaps they contain hitherto undiscovered compounds that could benefit us all.
If  my theories are correct, and the existence of wind whales is confirmed, so many questions will be posed that science will have to rethink so many of its basic principals in order to explain how something as great as this has been undetected for so long.
In conclusion, on a lighter note if you’re outside on a windless summers day and feel a gentle puff of breeze on your face. Could it have been caused by wind whale’s tail?
