A poem reflecting on our ability to persevere.
Human Nature

All honesty is sharp and dim,
and pays no heed to thoughts within.
No matter of emotion love,
below indifferent to above.

The stars hint no, you pay no heed
so resolute, your heart agrees,
ignores the bleak reality
but loves alone, beyond mere need.

Explain why they can never match,
the swell of heart cannot attach
to life; true love imagined far
away but souls remain too marred.

The boundless hope grows and declines,
possible for soul to match a mind,
dreams and light to reconcile?
Avoid love's death in anger riled?

Perhaps man's fate to fight again,
to lean headlong into the wind.
Even if the earth roars no,
forever faithful is my soul.
