A short poem about a life changing event that happened to me when I was twelve.

Stay right there
Where it is that I have
Purposefully placed you
Dare not move
Dare not resist
Accept what this is
Onto you I place
The entire world
Survival is no longer
Contingent upon me
There is no more “us”
Never will there be a “we”
Abandon you
Is what I must do
You must suffer in silence
You must learn as you fail
I will not be there
To save you from yourself
As well as the truth
Full on like a truck
Everything that is beyond
This incredulous moment
Will slam into your chest
For a time that might never end
You will desperately struggle to breath
Your heart will feel as if it beats in vain
Your mind will scream of absolute rage
No matter the desperate manner
In which you decide to react
Never again will you see this face
I gave you life, my deed is done
Survival is yours alone
My one true son…
