Sometimes we have to stand up & believe in change even if it goes against all that we know

You see that man
He says that he has a plan
A revolution I suppose
One meant for change
One meant to overcome
He won’t stand
For what’s going on
How could he ever
Some call him a rebel
Not I
Some call him a madman
Not I
He is smarter than most
He speaks with such fervor
That those truly listening
Are unquantifiably changed
Those only half aware
Remain exactly the same
With closed eyes they appear blind
Proximity does not make them guilty
Only their ignorance can ensure that
When change comes
They will be left behind
On the doorstep of the past
Who will raise them
Who will feed their ache
Not the man speaking
Not those following him
Not I
I could feel sorry for them
I should do something more
But they have made their beds
They have dug the hole
To the depths they must go
Fate is cruel
Especially when it’s self-imposed
Those of us ready to fight
Will rise up
From the ashes and decay
Standing for something in our lives
The only one we get
Should we not give it heck
How could we ever
Allow ourselves to forget
You see that man
He has a plan
What it is
I don’t know
I’m not sure
But what he says
What he confesses
Sounds better than this
The status quo must be changed
A revolution I suppose…
