This poem is about some thoughts on new year's.

New Year's Day

Looking out on a frozen New Year's Day
I wonder how I will find my way,
So many choices and so many chances,
Will I stay cocooned or fly away?

Looking out on the January snow
I wonder how far I will really go,
So many roads and so many hills,
Do I start out running or start out slow?

Looking out on the swirling white
I wonder what will be more right,
Wrapped up in my chrysalis warm
Or breaking free, taking flight?

Looking out on the cold and crystal world
I wonder if I should be unfurled,
Feel the sting of a cheerless wind
Being flung and being whirled?

Looking out on the morning chill
To spread my wings, I think I will,
Breaking out of my blanket of sleep
To light upon a distant hill.
