A short poem about loss
In the deep of the night
Still darkness gives sight
Does your heart hear that I'm calling for you?

When there's mist in the trees
Hiding all that I see
And the final breath draws ever nearer

I called, do you hear me?
Has your soul broken free?
Does it search through the sky for my answers?

And as the new day dawns
Can I ever be sure
That your heart and your soul are still living?

When the new day brings forth
A break from the night so long
I catch glimpses of light through the gloom

If today the sun shines
On laughter that was mine
A memory of the life that has passed

Still my ears listen out
Searching all for a sound
But all that's left behind is your echo
