My best days then, now, and to come...
The first best day of my life was in 2008’s early fall,

I was a senior in high school, late September as I recall,

I took her to a restaurant, one of the finest in town,

and a kiss gave birth to love, a day that turned my life around.

Every day that followed, kept on getting better,

As more time passed, the more I knew I’d love her forever.

The worst day of my life came mid-May the year after,

And made 2009 a year I don’t want to remember.

Right before the prom, our happiness came to an end,

I thought my life was over and my heart couldn’t seem to mend.

Knives stabbed my chest over and again,

But it hurt even more when the tip of those blades hit nothing

– Not a soul, not even a heart, when they went in.

What’s more, we never “broke-up” and our hearts never truly fractured in two,

It was only an argument gone unresolved, which made the pain continue to ensue.

Being without her for a year made me sour and cold,

I started college, worked hard, and did what I was told,

On the inside however, my soul was crying in pain,

And became so intense, it was driving me insane.

The second best day of my life, was again in mid-May,

It was 2010, and I needed her love to live, what more can I say?

She’s a year younger, and it was time for her high school prom,

We decided to begin again, where we last left off from.

That night we fell in love, once again but stronger than before,

And never will we part; we are at each other’s core.

The third best day of my life, was the twenty-second day of November,

The year is 2011 now, and the time couldn’t be better.

She’s so much more to me than a “friend,”

Closer to me than I thought anyone could be without end.

This is the day I’ll ask her to seal the love she’s devoted to me,

To wear this diamond ring for the entire world to see.

My next best days will be our wedding, and when our children are born,

I cannot predict when that will be, or what will happen after or before.

There is one thing I do know, a constant that I can see,

No matter where my life takes me, she will always be there with me.

For as long as I live, my left hand will steer the wheel of life,

and my right will always be holding the soft hand of my beautiful wife.
