Runescape

There is a mysterious place
A seemingly forever wilderness
Of unobtainable fate
A place known only to me
And my increasingly obscure ways
I have come to call it runescape
Certainly it could be called other names
Other ways in which to set the tone
Something not so dramatic
And slightly less emphatic
Or something much darker
And unquantifiably more problematic
But if you knew me
Beyond your own nose
Then you would know
That runescape is quite appropriate
I’ve been there before
Maybe once
Certainly many times more
While I was there
It felt like home
More than this place
More than now
More than ever before
I did not want to leave
I wanted to stay for all time
I was comfortable within
The assertive disposition
That such a place offers
But such comfortableness
Is not meant to be
My hand was forced
The door was opened
I was shoved right on through
Was it God or the devil
I fear that I do not know
Such might came from behind
Such force, equally applied
I stood no reasonable chance
The sad story of my life
I was dead inside and out
But then I came back
But then I was reborn
A change of mind
A change of state
Again I began to believe
Not in any defined fate
But in the place that was seen
In the place that I knew was real
Runescape
A made up name that fits
I could offer a proper description
But certainly I won’t
I will only be sure to say
Imagine nothing in every direction
And in every plausible position
Imagine complete emptiness
Waiting to be filled
Waiting to be created
Shifting further still
Into absolute madness
Such unrequited madness
Allows for a man like me
To see what others cannot see
I came back from runescape
Once before
Hopefully never more
I am confident that I will go again
When my time comes to an end
When everything that I am
Becomes completely undone
Only then will I be at home
Only then will I know
That I am where I belong…
