Poem about a silent child
THE CHILD

The bags droop like dark-clouded skies

Beneath the wide and staring eyes.

The thin body stands stiff and tight

As if every breath gives it fright.

What memories torment that silent mind,

Reflecting my every word as unkind?

No word, no laugh, nor even cry.

What violent acts did you spy?

What hideous words did you hear

To overwhelm you so with fear?

Oh, what wicked, disordered world is this,

Creating fear in just one single kiss?
