when and where did the disaster really occur? I am still confused--
fragmented bits
pieces beyond recognition
some ground to fine dust
in the aftermath of the
reckless explosion
i salvage the ruins
every part so loved, so loved
for so long
the inevitable task on hand--
rebuild!
and so the quest for peace becomes
a distant dream
as it has been always in the past
history bears witness to
unasked questions in
tearful beseeching eyes
of victims of meaningless wars--
"why?"-- "why me?"--
trying to beat down
stone walls with feather dusters
in their vain search for
answers--
and so i ask nothing
wishing to keep my mourning
private
at the watery grave
seeking the will to live
in turbid waters
